As we drove along the Mexican highway we noticed groups of people every 200 yards or so that were signalling to vehicles by waving hats or scarves in an up-and-down motion. Curiosity got the better of us and we stopped to find out why. They were asking for Christmas donations. Many people returning to Mexico for the holidays take clothes and toys down with them (just as we were doing). So we unloaded a box or two worth of stuff and gave it to these people and their families.
